Riesling Grand Cru Schoenenburg certainly has cult potential and in some places even cult status. In any case, the Grand Cru location is one of the top terroirs in Alsace. The Riesling from Dopff is always in the top league here.

The 2018 vintage is straw yellow in the glass and very dense, almost gold.

The nose is strongly influenced by the terroir - lots of lime and a good dash of honey; it is obvious that the grapes were harvested when fully ripe. Distinct notes of stone fruits, ligh-coloured fruits, white peach and floral aromas predominate in the glass. It's will improve with time and enough air - a very exciting, cinematic Riesling.

An instant mmm... on the palate! Creamy and complex, very dry and with excellent fruit sweetness. The steady presence of lime from the terroir and a very harmonious acidity. Fills the mouth and makes you want more.

A Riesling that is truly fun but definitely needs air. Pouring it in a carafe is highly recommended. Excellent ageing potential. If you are a Riesling fan, you won't want to miss this one.
