Rapunzel Himalaya Basmati White Rice

This light, fragrant rice comes from the states of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh in Indian. The rice is grown at the foot of the Himalayas. Indian family farmers grow the "Dehradun Type 3" traditional variety of rice. The rice requires a lot of manual work and effort to grow. It is strictly grown according to the "Code of Practice on Basmati Rice" regulations. The non-hybrid variety enables the farmers to grow their crop without patented seeds or hybrid seeds, as they can independently grow new rice plants from the rice from the previous year every year. The pure Basmati rice gives off a beautiful scent when it cooks. Enjoy!

Preparation:

• Use a 2:1 ratio of water to rice. Bring the water to a boil, add the rice and reduce the heat to low and simmer in a closed saucepan for about 10-15 minutes. Remove from the heat and let the rice rest for 5 minutes. Salt the rice only after cooking.
